Management 2012
Clonmel Show is run by a committee of management of more than fifty people, under the chairmanship of Bill Carroll. This is Bill’s third year as chairman of the show, and we wish him every success with the show and hope that the sun will shine for him on show day. Bill has big plans and new ideas to further develop the Show into an even more special and memorable family day out for all. His energy, dedication and efficiency as the “team captain” are very apparent and much appreciated. Claire Wilkinson is the new vice-chairman of the show. She too brings her own special youthful drive and enthusiasm to this position, together with her IT skills, which have been used to develop the Show’s excellent website
Carrie Acheson has been an extremely active president of Clonmel Show, over the past ten years. She always makes a special effort to meet and greet everybody on show day. She has also continued to do Trojan work prior to the show. She has been responsible for the organising and co-ordination of the show’s sponsors. Jennifer Quinlan has been helping Carrie with her big workload this year. Richard Quirke and Eddie O'Gorman are the current vice presidents. Almost 250 volunteers act as stewards on show day and help in the preparations for and dismantling of the show. Mrs Sheila Quinn is the super efficient show secretary, who gets through her huge workload quietly and without any fuss. Her contribution to the organisation of the annual show is enormous. Each of the other sections have their own respective organisers, all of whom work extremely hard to co-ordinate all the parts into one great show, they are Tom and Eileen Acheson, Gail Long, Mildred Stokes, Paddy O’Keeffe, Jerry Kelly, Jane Farrell, Helen O’ Dwyer, Maura O’ Donovan, William Burke, Margaret Widger, Mary O’ Neill, Kitty Delany, Breda Lee, Mary McCormack, Alan Ahearne, Eddie and Maire O’Gorman, Shay Kennedy, Paddy Quinlan and John FitzGerald. John C. Byrne and Michael Mulcahy are the show’s safety officers, a very responsible position, as the public mingle with animals throughout the show-grounds. John and Michael appeal to everybody attending the show to take care and be alert in order to avoid any mishaps!
